St Patricks Primary School, Saul, Downpatrick
This project involved the construction of a new 6 classroom primary school on a green field site with extensive drainage works which took place within and outside the site boundaries. The overall facility consisted of classrooms, administration offices, kitchen and dining area, recreational building, external landscaping, sports pitches and play area were delivered to the Clients and Professional Team’s satisfaction.
The building itself is of traditional construction with external finishes including coloured render, natural stone and natural slate roof. The internal environment is of contemporary design complete with junkers floor and glulam beams to the recreational area.
For T&A Kernoghan to successfully carry out the works within the required time frame and to the specific requirements of the designers a robust traffic management plan had to be put in place to facilitate access for farmers with land adjacent to the site, residents within the area, parishioners looking to attend the church adjacent to the site of the new school and members of our supply chain such as subcontractors etc. It was essential that our proposals, which were approved by the Roads Service, were circulated to all parties in advance of the works starting so that inconvenience could be minimised. By organising a mail drop with the assistance of the School and putting up notices along the road this objective was successfully achieved.
