Donegal Celtic FC - Redevelopment
The scope of works relates to an upgrading of facilities for supporters and members of the press in keeping with new guidelines issued by the Irish Football Association with aspects of the project including the following:
• New covered terracing both standing and seating for home and away fans with facilities underneath such as concession area and toilets
• New turnstiles for both home and away fans
• New elevated press box
• Improved access in the form of a newly laid hard standing around the perimeter of the pitch
• Repositioning of flood lighting
Enabling works proved to be an important factor at the start of this project in that due to limited access a temporary roadway had to be formed behind the lower goals to gain access to the newly proposed North Stand.
For commercial reasons the client still wanted to maintain full usage of the existing pitch for home matches and training all throughout the project. Taking all this into consideration we presented a formal proposal at the initial pre start meeting whereby our Contracts Team outlined plans to form the temporary access road within a time frame that did not compromise use of the pitch plus also upon completion that it would be segregated by fencing from players and supporters for the duration that it would be in use. In forming the temporary access road a ground reinforcement membrane was laid down in order to ensure maximum protection of the existing surface during the time period that construction traffic in the form of HGV vehicles, excavators and mobile cranes would be on it.
